bathrooms

Image
I started this post last summer when we actually re did both of our bathrooms. I should take some newer pictures since we've since framed both mirrors. Here's a just a preview of the colors. The first bathroom is our master bath. The orginial color is the light tan which is the color our bedroom is painted, our dressers etc are dark brown and our throw pillows are a blue color. We took the throw pillows off our bed and matched the paid color for the bathroom walls to them. I love how it turned out. The shower curtain in there now is White. I would love to add some beadboard to this wall down the road. The next photos are of the front/guest bathroom. It too was originally the light tan color and we painted it green. All the accessories in there were dark brown and green, so we took the little picture frame on the counter into Home Depot and matched it. I love the way it turned out. I actually want to keep the extra paint (we have lots) for a future nursery maybe! As you can see,...

the creative juices are flowing

i have a long list of projects i'd love to do. great ideas come from blog stalking i tell you! i've never been a creative person as far as coming up with projects or ideas. i am however pretty good and duplicating someone else creativity. my most favorite gal "thrifty decor chick" has hundreds upon hundreds of fantastic ideas that i hope to someday recreate. check out her fantastic blog, but this post is my favorite. http://thriftydecorchick.blogspot.com/2009/03/my-most-favorite-room.html i'm not having kids anytime soon, but i want these built in shelves in our spare bedroom that would one day be a nursery. i also want to add the crown modling around the top and the chair rail around the middle and do stripes on the bottom half of the room. the issue comes when i try and decide what color to do the stripes knowing it will one day be a nursery and not wanting to have to do them all again. maybe we could just build the shelves and do the molding and not add the ...

we've been without internet at our house for almost a week and i thought i was going to go crazy. lucky for me, i work in front of a computer all day everyday, so i was able to stay in the loop somewhat. the last two weekends we spent re-staining and refinishing an antique dresser and our two nightstands. i have a few before and after shots to share. we're getting another piece of furniture from my inlaws that we'll stain the same color. we also have two other dressers to paint. we tried to stain them but it's not real wood, they're made out of like a partical board type stuff so it doesn't absorb the stain so it looks bad. we're just going to paint them. more to come on those. before the drawer before the newly finished chest! the nightstand before (they have a marble slab that sits on top) finished nightstand. ignore the dog toys under it and the fact that i obviously didn't make the bed. i'm just keeping it real. we had a bbq last night with some ...

motivated

since in my last post (over three weeks ago) i mentioned that i've become incredibly lazy and lathargic and rather depressing to be around i thought i would spice up the blog world a bit. for some reason today i feel like i have 50+ things to blog about, so there will be no true topic or form to this post other than the fact that i'm currently motivated to tell you all the things that are spinning in my head at this moment. we have created a list of things we'd like to do around the house. we've started checking decor items off the list as we come across things as well as gathering new items we've wanted (ie: a futon in the spare/guest bedroom rather than a large sectional couch). there are still items on that list, but for now i think we're starting to focus on bigger things/projects. top of my list? 1. pour concrete in the backyard. we want to extend the patio the full length of the house and wrap down the side of the house so that we don't have to treck t...

garage project.

Image
my husband has been hard at work this weekend. he was determined to clean his garage. i had no clue until we were home owners that my husband was particular about his garage, but i guess that's the one space that is all HIS, and he loves it! my cousin, ron, who is a great carpenter came over yesterday in the early morning to help him measure it out, make a list of supplies and get started. i think ryan had great intentions of "helping" with the project... but ron is good. ron set to work and in about 4 hours ryan had a work bench and great shelves. ryan spent all of today putting things where he wanted them and organizing the rest of the garage. hanging things on the walls to get stuff off the floor and making sense of all the little gadgets that go into a garage. he's quite proud of himself and if i do say so myself... it looks great! the start of the project... the finish product! he has storage above, storage inside and storage below. plus pegboard on the back for ...
